Pass The Peptides First came glycolic acid, then anti-oxidants. Now peptides are the “IT” ingredient in a smorgasbord of cosmeceuticals. But what are peptides, how do they work and do they really deliver what cosmetic companies say they will? Kate Berry reports.
Out With The Old If you think your eye shadow lasts until it is gone, Holly Ralston Oyler has some news for you...
Winter Skin Care page I, Winter Skin Care page 2 Three weeks ago, I was sitting on the front balcony
reading in the afternoon sun. Last week, the temperatures were
hovering in the low teens with wind creating wind-chill factors in the
single digits. This past we had sleet and snow showers and dry air
blowing around for a few days.
And I wonder why my skin is
sitting up and yelling at me 24/7 saying “you there with the brain, I’m
in trauma here. I hurt, I’m itchy, I’m cracked and if you don’t do
something quickly, I’m going to get down right prickly!”
Winter Car survival Kit Quite a few years ago Louisville experienced a
horrific winter storm that crippled the city for over a week. The
Governor declared a state of emergency and closed all the roads and
expressways. Unfortunately, there were thousands of cars and people on
the roads at the time and it took an extremely long time to rescue
everyone. Cars were abandoned and people tried to walk to safety.
Most made it without problems, but there were also a few that didn’t.
At the time I was working with medical clients, some of
which were on the roads going or coming from treatment that day.
Louisville is a regional treatment area, so some traveled a long
distance to get here. Even though I was snug-as-a-bug and curled up in
front of the TV watching this horrible event unfold the writer side of
me kicked in full gear and I started working on a brochure listing the
things you would need to be comfortable in case such a thing from
happening again. When I first started handing it out to my clients,
most would just laugh and say a storm like that could never happen
again. A few clients packed their bags and put them in their cars for
the duration of the winter months.
TRICK – If
you are fair your skin may turns red from the cold. When you come
indoors, apply Chamomile Eye Makeup Remover with Aloe to cotton squares
and apply them to your face for a few minutes. It will prevent the
blood vessels from dilating due to the temperature change.
TIP –
Have the beginnings of a cold sore? Apply Pepto-Bismol® to the area
when you feel the tingle. Repeat several times if possible.
TREAT –
If dry, prickly skin is driving you nuts, take a cool shower and
instead of using soap, use hair conditioner. Rinse well and gently
towel dry.
